Who’s in need of a long-overdue date night? We all (myself included) get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we forget to make time to have fun with our significant other. From the 9-5 to taking the kiddos to soccer, dance, and theater (the list is neverending), it can sometimes be hard to plan the perfect date night. Luckily for us, we have an ample amount of choices right here in Gilbert. I have put together the ultimate list of fun date nights in Gilbert that go beyond your typical dinner and a movie.

1. Picnic at Gilbert Regional Park
When you first think of Gilbert Regional Park, you make think of the kids (I mean the epic playground is hard to overlook), but it is actually a great place for an active date night. Grab your rollerblades or bikes and head out on the 1-mile paved trail around the lake. To make it even more romantic, pack a picnic and plan your trip around sunset to watch the sun go down over the lake.
If you do not have your own bike, you can rent an electric bike from Pedego Gilbert for a few hours or you can opt for a game of tennis or pickleball instead!
2. Go Brewery-Hopping
There are actually quite a few breweries in and near Gilbert to choose from each with its own unique style and specialty.
I suggest starting out at 12 West Brewing Co Tap Room where you can order a flight of six 5oz pours and spend some time playing the available board and card games. You can even bring your own food or order takeout directly to the brewery.
If wanting to check out more local breweries, you and your date can head to Flying Basset or Desert Monk Brewing which are all within 5 miles of each other.
There’s also a huge Brewery and Distillery just down the road in Chandler (it’s actually the largest in all of Arizona), that you can tour and learn more about the process. SanTan Brewery and Distillery offers three different tours where you will learn about the facility, the process, and of course sample different beers.
3. Partake in a Food Tour
In case you are experiencing the “I don’t care what we eat” dilemma, a Gilbert Food Tour may be the answer to all your back and forths. The tour departs Thursdays and Sundays from the Water Tower and lasts approximately 3 hours.
During the tour, you’ll walk about 1 mile and stop to sample a wide variety of food and drinks at five different locations. It’s truly a great way to try out new restaurants, meet new people, and even learn new facts about Gilbert with your knowledgeable guide!
4. Survive the Apocalypse with a Self-guided Scavenger Hunt
There are several different self-guided scavenger hunts to choose from, but none of them are quite as unique as the Zombie Hunt. Using just your smartphone, you and your date with be tasked with trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. You’ll have to search the city for supplies, food, and tools and will be given challenges and trivia along the way! The more you find, the better your chances of survival!
If zombies aren’t your thing, you can try a more serious city scavenger hunt with Operation City Quest.
5. Watch a Show at the Hale Centre Theater
The Hale Centre Theatre is a beautiful performing arts theater with a rotating schedule of live shows. Depending on the show and date chosen, adult tickets typically fall around $45. If you love theater, you could also consider buying a season pass to ensure you won’t miss any of the upcoming theatrical experiences.
6. Test out your golf swing at Top Golf
Although Top Golf isn’t unique to Gilbert, it’s always a fun time! While here, you pay by the hour to rent a golf bay. You have real golf clubs and balls, but the golf balls are high-tech and will track your ball's speed and distance. There are a variety of “virtual” games that you can choose from on the computer in your bay.
While playing, a server will come by to serve any food and drinks during your time.

7. Outsmart the clock in an Escape Room
There are three escape rooms in Gilbert to choose from and each offer unique challenges ranging in difficulties. Paradox Escape Room offers 3 different challenges and pricing starts at 25 dollars per person.
International Room Escape is located right in the Gilbert Town Square and also has 3 games to choose from including Amazon Rainforest, Gravitational Effect, and Save Escapy! You can rent out an entire room for 120 dollars or pay a person starting at 33.
And last but not least, are the Cluemaster Escape Rooms with three choices of games as well. The games here range in difficulty and may be great for beginner investigators!
8. Laugh at JP’s Comedy Club
Grab your date and head to Gilbert’s funniest club for a night full of laughter and happy tears. There’s a rotating calendar of shows and open-mic nights to attend at JP’s Comedy Club so be sure to check the website for an updated calendar!

9. Grab a drink at The White Rabbit Bar
I know I promised that this list would include date nights that go beyond the typical restaurant, BUT The White Rabbit Bar deserves a slot on this list. The White Rabbit Bar is Gilbert’s first and original speakeasy.
The ambiance and décor set the stage for a perfect date night. There are many unique cocktails including a delicious after-dinner dessert drink! It’s the perfect place to end your night after an escape room, comedy show, or mini golf match.
Although there isn’t a dress code enforced, it’s recommended to wear your best date night outfit here. Sooo, you may have to bring a change of clothes if combining it with something else on this list.
10. Rock Climb at Alta Climbing
For you adventurous couple out there, Alta Climbing will provide a night of fun (and exercise) to spice up your average date nights. The facility covers over 30,000 sq. ft and has many different walls to choose from. There are also climbing classes on-site if you want to improve your skills (or maybe even take it outside someday!)
11. Show your Artistic abilities at a Paint Night
Pack some snacks and wine and head to one of Gilbert’s local paint classes for an artsy date! There are several different locations to choose from throughout the city so you’ll surely find a painting that fits your home’s aesthetics. Even if you have zero artistic abilities, paint classes make it simple to follow and usually leave for a few good laughs by the end of it.

12. Hike at Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch
If looking for a date night out in the great outdoors, head to the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch. Here, you can your date can stroll along the 4.5 miles of trails while keeping your eye out for birds, fish, and other wildlife.
You can fish (catch and release) at Water Ranch Lake, and there are even campsites available if looking to spend more time enjoying nature! The preserve is even dog-friendly so no need to leave your furry best friend at home!
13. Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory
If your date happens to take place on a Friday or Saturday night (after sunset), head to the Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory for a night of star gazing and planet searching. This is truly one of the most unique date night ideas in Gilbert!
The Observatory is open every Friday and Saturday night and is free to enter (donation suggested). After arriving, you can peer into the telescope to admire the amazing night sky. There are even volunteers on-site to answer any astronomy-related questions you may have!
14. San Tan Village
Shopping Spree anyone? The San Tan Village is a large open-air shopping mall with over 50 different stores and a plethora of restaurants. Spend your date strolling through the different shops or checking out a happy hour deal at one of the on-site restaurants.
15. Get a perfect 300 at Bowlero
Sometimes you need a good ol’ bowling date. Bowlero makes this extra fun with its fun environment. In addition to bowling, you can check out the arcade, compete in a friendly game of laser tag, and order some wings and a drink.
16. Explore the nearby Trails
Although there are just a few trails inside Gilbert, there are so many diverse landscapes and trails to check out nearby.
If wanting to stay closer to home, you could check out the Sun Circle Trail or Zanjero Park Path. Both are paved trails perfect for a leisurely stroll out in nature.
For those wanting more of a challenge, you can head 30 minutes towards Phoenix to trek up the famous Camelback Mountain.

18. Stroll through Mother Nature’s Farm
If your date happens to take place in the Fall, Mother Nature’s Farm is the perfect place for a festive Gilbert date night! For just $15 per person, you can stroll through the pumpkin patch, visit with the barn animals, shop at the market, and have a picnic at the farm.
